January 12 Warmth for Wake, for ages 16+, is a Wake County Human Services program, providing in-need households in and around Raleigh with free firewood from November through March. For many households, fireplaces and wood-burning stoves are the only sources of heat.

Volunteers (with pickup trucks, chainsaws and splitters, if possible) cut and split wood on site, deliver wood to recipients and, sometimes, collect wood from area donors. Volunteers need to read these guidelines and map, and sign this form as permission to work.  Bryant Dowd and Thomas Sigmon for details.
